What Are We Searching For?

It’s dark here where I lay,

The time passed ends the day,

My thoughts won’t go away,

It seems they’re here to stay.

As I drift to the fray,

I search for another way,

To get through the painful day,

But all my thoughts seem to say:

-

What are we searching for?

And why do we always need more?

Our thoughts are so dark and the light is so dim,

We’ve been down this road before.

When will it ever end?

And why do we always pretend?

We search for answers but we come to find,

That we just can’t comprehend.

-

I know there is no reply,

To the questions when or why,

All I can do now is sigh,

Then breakdown and start to cry.

I chose to live and not to die.

I choose the truth and not to lie.

I choose not to be a passerby.

But still my thoughts will say:

-

What are we searching for?

And why do we always need more?

Our thoughts are so dark and the light is so dim,

We’ve been down this road before.

When will it ever end?

And why do we always pretend?

We search for answers but we come to find,

That we just can’t comprehend.
